"Chelmsford YMCA is great because there is a wide range of opportunities for young people. It has impacted me a great deal and helped me with my self-esteem." (Charlotte)

Young Governors Project

A group of young people aged 16+ meets every few weeks to shadow the YMCA Board. To find out more, please visit the Young Governors page.

15 - 19 Training (Focus Youth East project)

This project aims to involve young people who are not already engaging or are struggling in the education environment with a programme that fits around them, which they are happy to commit to and will help them to re-engage with mainstream education. This programme is part-funded by the European Social Fund and co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency, and willl cover literacy and numeracy and will also focus on raising self-esteem and confidence. As we are an accredited NOCN Centre, the young people work towards Level 1 accredited learning qualifications as well as an accredited Health and Safety qualification. They will also be supported to complete non-accredited learning modules.

Family Support

We work closely with primary and secondary schools and families, offering support and guidance for parents and children by running various sessions in schools in the Chelmsford area, such as: social skills groups, parents' support sessions, games clubs, anger management sessions, one-to-one sessions, and team-building workshops.
