Youth volunteer Jess is nominated for YMCA Youth Matters Award: YMCA England's AGM, Autumn Forum and Youth Matters Awards were held on Wednesday 6th December at the Wellcome Collection in London. It was an excellent day that saw many different people from across the YMCA movement come together and celebrate the successes and achievements that are being carried out on a day to day basis. One of Chelmsford YMCA's youth team volunteers, Jess Borsey, was a finalist for the Young Volunteer of the Year Award - very well done Jess!All winners and finalists were presented with their awards by special guests and event hosts TV and Radio presenter Jade Avia and Chief Executive Officer of YMCA England Ian Green. YFest Urban Games Festival 2012! What an amazing three days!! This was the first year that we changed the dates for YFest and merged with Chelmsford City Council's SX Urban Games Day. During the weekend over 1,000 people attended the festival, with families coming from as far away as Rayleigh and Walton on the Naze, showing that this community event had a real Essex-wide reach.
We had activities such as the Battle of the Bands, sumo suits, DJ-ing, inflatable obstacle runs, a showcase of young talent, eating competitions, free-running workshops, cricket, football, dance workshops, and much more. We would like to thank all the partners involved in this event who supported us. It was a great event which was enjoyed by community members not just from Chelmsford but from across Essex, and we look forward to doing something similar again next year.
